
Port Said University has achieved its first-ever international presence in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2026, ranking 1,279th globally among 2,016 universities and educational institutions from 110 countries, 59th in Africa, and 35th among Egyptian universities, with a total score of 4,652.5 points.
Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of Port Said University, emphasized that this inaugural participation marks an important step toward embedding sustainability practices, advancing the university’s transformation into a green university, and strengthening its regional and international competitiveness.
The UI GreenMetric ranking evaluates universities across key sustainability areas, including infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste management, water, sustainable transportation, education and research, and governance and digitalization.
Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh highlighted the university’s growing commitment to sustainability through institutional development, eco-friendly practices, and support for sustainability-related research and projects, in alignment with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
He expressed his appreciation to the International Ranking Office, the Sustainability Team, and ranking coordinators across the faculties, noting that this achievement reflects the collective efforts and collaboration of the university’s various sectors and faculties, with continued work to improve sustainability performance in future ranking cycles.
