In a major step toward advancing healthcare services in Port Said, Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of Port Said University, and Major General Ibrahim Abu Limon, Governor of Port Said, inaugurated and launched a number of new expansions and departments at Port Said University Hospital, as part of the university’s strategic plan to transform the hospital into an integrated medical institution combining healthcare, medical education, training, scientific research, and community service.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Amr Othman, Deputy Governor; MP Hassan Ammar; MP Dr. Marwa Halawa; Professor Dr. Ehab Ali El-Hanafi, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Dr. Asmaa Nabil, Executive Director of Port Said University Hospital; and Mr. Fawzi El-Wali, Head of El-Zohour District, along with the university’s vice presidents, deans of health-sector faculties, the General Supervisor of the Health Sector, the Secretary-General of the University, and a number of medical, academic, and administrative leaders and representatives of relevant health authorities.
Key New Services
Emergency Department
The department has been fully equipped to receive emergency and critical cases 24 hours a day, providing specialized services in pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, pulmonology, and internal medicine, enhancing the hospital’s capacity to provide timely and specialized emergency care.
Dialysis Center
The hospital’s newly operational dialysis center is the largest of its kind in Port Said Governorate, equipped with 51 modern dialysis machines to provide safe and specialized care for patients with kidney failure and accommodate a larger number of patients.
Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center
The largest integrated physical therapy and rehabilitation center in the governorate, equipped with modern technologies and advanced medical equipment, provides comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation programs under the supervision of specialized medical professionals.
Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh emphasized that these openings mark a new phase in the ongoing development of Port Said University Hospital. He stressed that the university views the hospital not merely as a healthcare facility, but as a key institution serving the community and supporting medical education, training, and scientific research.
He further affirmed the university’s commitment to continuing its ambitious healthcare development plan through expanding specialized medical services, upgrading infrastructure and equipment, and maximizing the use of its medical and scientific expertise to provide safe and high-quality healthcare to the people of Port Said and neighboring governorates.
For his part, Major General Ibrahim Abu Limon, Governor of Port Said, highlighted the importance of operating the Emergency and Reception Department in strengthening integration between Port Said University Hospital and the entities of the Comprehensive Health Insurance System. He noted that this will support healthcare services, ease pressure on other hospitals, and contribute to reducing waiting lists.
The Governor also emphasized the importance of continued coordination among the General Authority for Healthcare, the General Authority for Comprehensive Health Insurance, the General Authority for Accreditation and Health Control, and Port Said University Hospital, ensuring the optimal use of available resources and the delivery of integrated healthcare services that meet citizens’ needs.
The new expansions reflect Port Said University’s vision of developing an integrated medical institution that combines healthcare, medical education, training, scientific research, and community service, while reinforcing the university hospital’s role as a trusted destination for quality, compassionate, and comprehensive medical care.
