
Port Said University, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, organized a seminar titled “Cybersecurity, the Dark Web, and Online Gambling” at the Faculty of Management Technology and Information Systems. The event was organized by the Scientific and Technological Activity Department of the General Administration for Student Welfare, with the participation of students from the Faculties of Commerce, Law, Nursing, and Science.
The seminar was held under the auspices of the University President, supervised by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Bayoumi, and hosted by Prof. Dr. Yasser Ahmed Hamed, Dean of the Faculty. The event was also attended by Dr. Ayman Mohamed Mohasseb, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs.
The seminar featured two lectures. Dr. Lamia Manshawi delivered the first lecture on the concept of cybersecurity, its importance, and methods of protecting data and information. The second lecture was presented by Dr. Vivi Farouk, who highlighted the dangers of the dark web and online gambling, as well as their negative impact on youth and society.
In a message to the participating students, the University President emphasized that equipping youths with science, knowledge, and skills represents the first line of defense against cybersecurity challenges. He stressed that cybersecurity has become an absolute necessity in light of rapid digital transformation and that such seminars aim to protect students from digital risks and attempts at cultural invasion through cyberspace.
The seminar witnessed strong student turnout and engagement and comes within the university’s plan to organize a series of awareness events aimed at building well-rounded university students capable of confronting digital challenges and serving their country with awareness and responsibility.
The seminar was organized by the Scientific and Technological Activities Department, headed by Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Khamisi, with the participation of Professor Shaimaa Omar and Prof. Dr. Doaa El-Saeed, Head of the Student Welfare Department at the faculty.
