
Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of Port Said University, participated in the closing ceremony of the 25th “Chinese Bridge” Competition for Egyptian university students, held at the invitation of Mr Liao Liqiang, Chinese Ambassador to Cairo. The event reflected the deep-rooted historical and cultural ties between Egypt and China and highlighted the importance of cultural and academic exchange between the two nations.
During the event, the President of Port Said University affirmed the university’s commitment to supporting Chinese language education through the Department of Chinese Language at the Faculty of Arts, emphasizing its vital academic and cultural role in promoting intercultural dialogue and strengthening communication between peoples.
He also highlighted the university’s ongoing efforts to expand scientific cooperation, research partnerships, and academic exchange programs with Chinese universities and institutions, with the aim of benefiting from China’s distinguished expertise and successful experiences across various fields.
The celebration coincided with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and China, as well as the Year of China–Africa People-to-People Exchanges, giving the event special cultural and diplomatic significance.
Prof. Sherif Saleh praised the fruitful relations between Port Said University and the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, noting that language learning serves as a true bridge for mutual understanding and international cooperation. He further expressed the university’s aspiration for continued scientific and cultural collaboration that supports youth development and contributes to sustainable progress in both countries.
The Faculty of Arts at Port Said University participated in the competition through two fourth-year students, Afnan Tariq and Raneem, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Badr Abdel Aziz Badr, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Dina Bayoumi, Dr. Radwa Alaa El-Din, and the Chinese expert Jian.
