Linking Education to Jobs: Port Said University’s Strategy for Market-Driven Learning

In line with the directives of Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to align academic disciplines with labor market needs, and in accordance with the executive procedures of the Supreme Council of Universities and Egypt Vision 2030, Port Said University continues its efforts to develop the university education system in line with rapid advancements in knowledge and technology.

Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh affirmed that the university began taking practical steps nearly a year ago to implement this direction by forming executive committees across its faculties and preparing reports and proposals aimed at aligning academic programs with labor market requirements.

As part of these efforts, the university president issued a decree restructuring the university’s academic sectors into three main sectors: the Medicine and Medical Sciences Sector, the Engineering, Physical Sciences, and Technology Sector, and the Arts and Humanities Sector.

Executive coordinating councils have also been established for each sector, comprising the deans of the respective faculties. A coordinator was appointed for every sector to enhance integration among academic disciplines and to develop joint interdisciplinary programs that can be internationalized through partnerships with global universities.

The university has also signed cooperation protocols with major companies, including Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT) and SE Wiring Systems Egypt (SEWS-EG), in addition to organizing field visits for students and faculty members.

Meanwhile, the university’s Career Development Center and Training Unit continue to enhance the capabilities of academic, administrative, and student staff to meet the evolving demands of both local and international labor markets.

As part of efforts to maximize the impact of the university’s educational outcomes, Engaz Port Said University was established to support distinguished academic programs, develop students’ skills, and better prepare them to compete in the job market.
