President of Port Said University: Collective Efforts in Quality, Rankings, and International Relations Are Elevating the University’s Global Profile
Port Said University Council held its monthly meeting on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in its 225th session, chaired by Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of Port Said University, and attended by the Council members.
The meeting opened with the President extending his congratulations on the occasion of the Prophet’s Birthday, wishing Egypt and its people continued prosperity, security, and blessings.
Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh reviewed the key outcomes of his recent visit to the Republic of India, particularly the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Sharda University, which strengthens academic and research exchange, supports innovation, and opens new opportunities for joint scientific and research projects.
The President highlighted the university’s continued efforts toward institutional and technological development, announcing plans to establish a state-of-the-art Media and Technology Center that reflects the university’s growing achievements and evolving identity. He also announced plans to establish an International Publishing and Scientific Publishing Services Center to support faculty members and researchers, enhance international publication opportunities, and strengthen the university’s position in international rankings.
He further announced that the university is finalizing preparations for the formation and convening of its first Advisory Council, bringing together distinguished experts and leading figures from various fields to contribute their expertise and insights to the university’s future plans.
On the educational front, Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh directed the development of innovative teaching approaches, including non-traditional lecture models, while encouraging students to participate, compete, innovate, and pursue creative ideas and projects. He also stressed the importance of leveraging the expertise of senior professors and specialists and providing the necessary support to students with outstanding initiatives.
The President emphasized the importance of maximizing the benefits of international grants and educational, research, and technological opportunities, as well as learning from successful international experiences and adapting them to the needs of the university, its faculties, and academic programs.
He also stressed the importance of teamwork within all university colleges, particularly in preparation for academic accreditation, affirming the university administration’s commitment to providing the necessary logistical, financial, and moral support to help colleges achieve their development objectives and reach targeted standards.
Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh expressed his pride in the significant progress achieved by Port Said University, emphasizing that this progress is the result of collective effort, institutional integration, and the dedication of teams across the university. He particularly commended the efforts of the Quality, International Rankings, and International Relations teams.
He noted that the university’s international relations efforts have led to a qualitative expansion in cooperation with Arab and international universities and institutions, with the university now reaping the benefits through agreements, partnerships, projects, and academic and research collaborations.
The President also highlighted the university’s efforts to increase its self-generated revenues, contributing to improved services and enhanced benefits for university affiliates, alongside the development of financial and administrative regulations and the implementation of governance, fairness, and transparency. He stressed the importance of the responsible use of resources and maximizing the value generated from the university’s assets.
During the session, the Port Said University Council approved the awarding of Master’s degrees to 18 researchers and Doctoral degrees to 14 researchers, reaffirming the university’s commitment to supporting researchers and advancing scientific research and postgraduate studies.
The meeting concluded with the Council discussing the items on its agenda and taking the necessary decisions, as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to advance academic, administrative, and research performance and sustain its institutional development and international growth.
