The Parallel PSU team from Port Said University achieved a remarkable accomplishment by winning the bronze medal in the University Programming Competition, which concluded at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport. The competition was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of Port Said University, and Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Bayoumi, Supervisor of the Youth Welfare Sector.
The team comprised Ziad Hani, Karim Ali, and Amr Moqalled, students at the Faculty of Engineering, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Heba Mohamed Abdel-Aaty, the university’s ICPC team supervisor.
The competition witnessed strong participation, with more than 3,000 teams from Egyptian universities and higher institutes competing in the qualifying rounds, while 400 teams advanced to the finals.
The Port Said University team successfully solved 9 programming problems in 5 hours in a competition focusing on big data processing algorithms and advanced data structures. Their performance demonstrated strong skills in problem-solving, logical thinking, and teamwork under time pressure.
This achievement highlights the outstanding capabilities of Port Said University students and their readiness to compete in the Arab qualifiers for the ICPC competition in the coming months. It also adds to the university’s growing record of success in competitive programming, supporting its commitment to modern technology, digital transformation, and the development of a knowledge-based economy, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.
