President of Port Said University Leads First Academic Advising Session for High School Students

Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of Port Said University, launched the university’s first-ever Academic Advising for High School Students program, designed to help students choose university majors that align with their abilities, interests, and the evolving demands of the labor market.

The opening session, hosted by the University Career Development Center (UCCD) and led by Prof. Heba Youssef Suleiman, welcomed humanities-track students and their parents. Addressing the participants, Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh stressed that selecting a university major is a life-changing decision that should be guided by a student’s talents, aspirations, and career goals—not grades alone. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to preparing graduates with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to succeed in both local and global job markets.

The President also highlighted the university’s ambitious strategy to strengthen English language proficiency across the institution as part of its vision to become an English-speaking university, enhancing graduates’ competitiveness in the international workforce.

The first day featured an “Interest Analysis” workshop delivered by Eng. Abanoub Saad, a certified trainer and professional development specialist, followed by presentations on distinguished academic programs available for humanities-track students and the career opportunities they offer.

The introductory sessions also included presentations by Prof. Mohamed El-Bashlawi, Supervisor of the Humanities Sector; Prof. Abdel Salam Abdel Sattar, Head of the Geography Department, Faculty of Arts; Prof. Atef Zaghloul, Director of the Early Childhood Program in English; Dr. Amal Hal, Director of the Simultaneous Interpretation Program, Faculty of Arts; and Teaching Assistant Mohamed Abdel Malek, who introduced the English Division at the Faculty of Commerce.

Concluding the event, Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh expressed his appreciation for the strong participation of students and parents and commended the outstanding efforts of the University Career Development Center team under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Heba Youssef Suleiman. He emphasized that the Academic Advising Program reflects Port Said University’s commitment to empowering students to make informed academic choices and build successful futures on a solid scientific foundation.
