
Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of Port Said University, participated on Sunday, June 28, 2026, in the periodic meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, held at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and attended by Dr. Mostafa Refaat, Secretary of the Council, along with university presidents and council members.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Council extended its congratulations to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Egyptian people on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of the June 30 Revolution.
The Council approved the formation of the Supreme Coordination Committee for the 2026/2027 academic year. The Minister also emphasized the importance of activating universities’ role in the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, expanding comprehensive university development caravans nationwide, completing maintenance works before the new academic year, and continuing student activities during the summer vacation.
The Minister praised the remarkable progress of Egyptian universities in international rankings, including the inclusion of 29 Egyptian universities in the US News & World Report 2026/2027 rankings, 18 institutions in the QS World University Rankings 2027, and 45 universities in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2026.
The Council reviewed the Ministry’s key activities during June, including efforts to strengthen international academic cooperation, support innovation and entrepreneurship, expand research partnerships, and enhance the linkage between scientific research and national development priorities.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh presented a report highlighting Port Said University’s achievements during the 2024/2025 academic year, including progress in digital transformation, international rankings, international relations, international students, student activities, and development projects across academic, research, community, and administrative sectors.
The Council also discussed the continued development of faculty capacity-building centers and the secure digital issuance of the FDTC certificate to support digital transformation efforts in Egyptian universities.
