Chinese Bridge Competition 2026

The Faculty of Arts at Port Said University has achieved a new international milestone as the Department of Chinese Language secured first and fourth place in the 25th edition of the Chinese Bridge Competition 2026, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of Port Said University.

The achievement came under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Badr Abdel Aziz Badr, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, with the dedicated academic support of Dr. Dina Bayoumi and Dr. Radwa Alaa El-Din, who played a key role in preparing the students for the competition.

Hosted by Suez Canal University, the competition featured 13 contestants representing five Egyptian universities: Suez Canal University, New Ismailia National University, Alexandria University, Pharos University, and Port Said University. The event was attended by the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Alexandria, alongside academics, specialists, and directors of Confucius Institutes.

Fourth-year student Afnan Tarek Abdel Salam won first place, while fellow fourth-year student Raneem Ashraf El-Sayed Ibrahim achieved fourth place. Both students have qualified for the final round of the competition, scheduled to take place in Cairo later this May.

Port Said University affirmed that this accomplishment reflects the university’s academic excellence and its commitment to promoting cultural diversity and expanding international opportunities for its students.

Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh also extended his congratulations to the winning students, praising the efforts of the Faculty of Arts and the Department of Chinese Language in achieving this distinguished international success.
