
Port Said University, led by Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, participated in the seminar “Together Against Cyber Violence”, organized by the National Council for Women, headed by Counselor Amal Ammar, and the Political Participation Committee, chaired by Dr. Rasha El-Mahdi. The seminar was part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, aiming to raise awareness of cyber violence and its impact on women and girls, while promoting the safe and responsible use of technology.
A student delegation from the university attended, supervised by:
Prof. Dr. Heba Youssef Suleiman, Director of Training at the University and member of the Council’s Political Participation Committee;
Prof. Dr. Ahmed Bayoumi, Supervisor of the Student Welfare Sector;
Mr. Ibrahim El-Nems, Director of the Social Activities Department;
Mr. Islam Helal, Sports Specialist.
The seminar was presented by:
Dr. Iman Ali, Cybersecurity Trainer and founder of the She Shield initiative, focusing on protecting women and girls from cyber extortion; Dr. Eman Mumtaz, Mental Health Consultant and Head of the Mental Health Committee at the Egyptian Forum for Research and Innovation for Women in the Maritime Sector, who discussed the psychological effects of cyber violence and the need to monitor victims’ behavioral changes; Counselor Dina El-Gendy, Lawyer specializing in appeals and the Supreme Constitutional Court, and Alternate Rapporteur of the Political Participation Committee, who outlined legislation combating digital violence in Egypt and across the Arab world.
The seminar concluded that addressing cyber violence is a collective responsibility, as it can isolate victims and disrupt their lives. It also highlighted the Egyptian state’s commitment to protecting women from all forms of violence.
The National Council for Women praised Port Said University’s active participation and the students’ high level of engagement, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between institutions to combat violence against women.
Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh affirmed that the university’s involvement reflects its societal role and national responsibility. He stressed that the university will continue to be an active partner in all national initiatives protecting society and supporting the state’s efforts to combat violence against women, expressing appreciation to the National Council for Women and the Political Participation Committee for organizing the seminar.
