Third Training Course on Crisis and Disaster Management

Port Said University launched the third training course on crisis and disaster management, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of Port Said University, and Major General Mohamed Mahmoud Awad, Director of the Military Academy for Graduate and Strategic Studies, within the framework of the fruitful cooperation between the university and the academy.

The course is organized in cooperation with the University Career Development Center, the Training Department, and the Military Education Department at Port Said University. The program features lectures delivered by a distinguished group of leaders from the Military Academy for Graduate and Strategic Studies, including Major General Dr. Bahgat Farid, Advisor at the Academy, Major General Ayman Saudi, Major General Ahmed Yousry, and Major General Mamdouh El-Gazzar.

The opening session was attended by Dr. Heba Youssef Suleiman, Director of the University Career Development Center and Director of the Training Department, Colonel Abram Babawy, Director of the Military Education Department, along with a number of trainees from faculty members, administrative staff, and students.

During his lecture, Major General Dr. Bahgat Farid discussed the foundations and methodology of crisis management, explaining the concept of a crisis, the difference between a crisis and a problem, and effective response strategies and solutions. He also reviewed the various types of threats resulting from crises, including economic, political, social, cultural, military, and natural disasters, as well as internal and external sources of threats.

In her remarks, Dr. Heba Youssef Suleiman expressed her appreciation to the university leadership and the Military Academy for Graduate and Strategic Studies for their constructive cooperation in implementing the educational training plan. She highlighted the role of the academy’s experts in enhancing awareness, developing life skills, and strengthening self-development for faculty members, administrative staff, students, and graduates.

Colonel Abram Babawy emphasized the importance of cooperation between the university and the academy in developing trainees’ capabilities in crisis response, particularly through forecasting potential crises, developing scenarios, and collecting and analyzing data to reach effective solutions.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh stressed the significance of such training courses, praising the ongoing cooperation with the Military Academy for Graduate and Strategic Studies. He noted that the course’s scientific, national, and strategic content contributes to raising awareness of Egyptian national security issues, reinforcing the values of loyalty and belonging, enhancing planning and risk management skills, and refining the leadership capabilities of participants.
