The Supreme Council of Universities held its periodic meeting in December 2025, chaired by Prof. Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with Prof. Dr. Mustafa Refaat and Council members in attendance, at Port Said University. The Council expressed its gratitude to Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh for hosting the meeting and congratulated Dr. Mahfouz Abdel-Sattar on his appointment as President of Hurghada University.
The meeting highlighted main Ministerial Directives as follow:
- Universities to prepare for the first semester exams of the 2025/2026 academic year.
- Activate research centers and innovation incubators, encourage international publications, and support applied scientific research.
- Adopt the guiding model for the strategic plans of sector committees.
- Launch the Egyptian Student Participation Survey from January to July 2026.
- Key Activities:
- Launch of IRC EXPO 2025 and signing agreements with winning alliances under the “Alliance and Development” initiative.
- Collaboration in research and innovation with the European Union, opening of the Fifth Forum of the Union of Russian and Arab University Presidents, and inauguration of the Cairo University Medical Complex.
- Inspection tours of Beni Suef University, Mansoura National University, and the Electronics Research Institute – New Nozha.
- Cairo, Mansoura, and Shebin El-Kom join the UNESCO Learning Cities Network 2025.
- Honoring students winning international and Arab championships, launching the “Raya” program for training doctors, and approving the establishment of Injaz Company at Port Said University.
- Signing cooperation protocols between Port Said University, Sadat City University, the National Water Research Center, the Petroleum Research Center, and the Suez Canal Container Terminal Company.
- Review of the African Strategic Report – 18th Edition, Faculty of African Studies, Cairo University.
