
Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of Port Said University, participated on Monday, May 25, 2026, in the periodic meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, held at the Ministry of Higher Education headquarters in the New Administrative Capital under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The meeting addressed several strategic priorities for the higher education sector, including accelerating the internationalization of Egyptian universities, strengthening partnerships between academia and industry, updating academic programs to align with labor market needs, and advancing digital transformation through the implementation of the ERP System across universities.
The Council also emphasized the importance of ensuring the smooth conduct of final examinations and raising readiness levels at university hospitals during the Eid al-Adha holiday in coordination with the Ministry of Health.
During the session, the Council reviewed the Ministry’s key achievements throughout May 2026, including the inauguration of Senghor University’s new campus in Borg El Arab by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron, as well as the launch of major healthcare development projects at Alexandria University valued at approximately EGP 632 million.
The meeting further highlighted ongoing international cooperation efforts with universities and institutions in Greece, the Czech Republic, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Russia, in addition to Egypt’s continued leadership role within ISESCO and participation in the Kazan International Economic Forum.
The Council approved the establishment of a branch of Cairo University in Eritrea and reviewed several reports related to university development, faculty training, institutional digitalization, and graduate employment indicators, including a Cairo University survey involving 7,000 graduates that recorded a 72% employment rate.
