Prof.Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of Port Said University, participated on October 26, 2026, in the periodic meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, chaired by Professor Abdel-Aziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture, and attended by Professor Mustafa Rifaat, Secretary of the Council, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
The meeting discussed implementing the recommendations of “Egypt 2026” Forum, launching the “Nation of Innovation” initiative with a budget of EGP 500 million, developing competency-based academic programs, establishing a digital platform to monitor labor market needs, and enhancing students’ professional skills through 39 university centers. Discussions also addressed international partnerships, healthcare services, and student activities.
The Minister highlighted Egypt’s advancement by three places in the 2026 Global Innovation Index and the inclusion of 40 Egyptian universities in the 2027 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. He also emphasized supporting scientific research, translating innovations into practical projects, nurturing student talent, and revitalizing university sports leagues.
Prof.Dr. Sherif Saleh stressed the importance of these efforts in improving educational quality, aligning academic programs with labor market needs, and promoting innovation and international cooperation to support sustainable development.
