
Port Said University, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of the University, continues to host the “Scientific Visitor: Arab Minds Abroad” program. The program is held under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO, and is organized by the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture in cooperation with Port Said University and the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO).
The second day of the program featured meetings and scientific sessions that discussed the latest trends in university education, the productive university, technology incubators, and joint research laboratories, reflecting the development of the higher education and scientific research system.
Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh emphasized Port Said University’s commitment to strengthening academic and research cooperation with Arab and international institutions and leveraging distinguished Arab scientific expertise to support innovation, digital transformation, and the achievement of sustainable development goals.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Sand Abu Darwish, Director of the Science and Scientific Research Department at the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), expressed his delight that the program was being held for the first time in Egypt at Port Said University. He commended the university’s development and its ambitious vision for academic and research excellence.
Prof. Dr. Rami Magdy, Assistant Secretary-General for ALECSO and ISESCO Affairs at the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, also emphasized the program’s importance in fostering communication among Arab scientists and facilitating the exchange of expertise and successful experiences among higher education institutions.
The event featured the participation of a distinguished group of visiting professors, including Prof. Dr. Akhleif Tarawneh, former President of the University of Jordan; Prof. Dr. Sawsan Krishan, Director General of the Al-Khwarizmi Computing Center at the University of Tunis; Prof. Dr. Hussein Al-Mahdi, Professor of Biophysics at the University of Sharjah; and Professor Dr. Nibal Idlbi, Digital Transformation Policy Advisor. These professors praised the high academic and administrative standards of Port Said University and its human and scientific resources, which qualify it to offer a sophisticated university model that meets modern international standards.
The visiting professors affirmed that their meetings with faculty members and researchers reflected the breadth of scientific expertise at the university, expressing their eagerness to expand areas of cooperation and launch joint research and academic projects in the future.
The university president held an extensive discussion session with the university’s vice presidents, deans of faculties, sector supervisors, and center directors. The session addressed several strategic topics, including newly established academic programs, international rankings, technology incubators, the productive university concept, and international academic and research collaboration.
At the conclusion of the second day’s events, the visiting professors and participating guests were honored, and commemorative shields were exchanged between Port Said University, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), and the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture. Certificates of appreciation were also distributed to the trainees, participants, and organizers, amidst widespread praise for the excellent organization and high academic standards of the program.
