Enhancing Digital Awareness at Port Said University

The Scientific and Technological Activities Department at Port Said University organized a seminar titled “Cybersecurity, the Dark Web, and Online Gambling” at the Faculty of Management Technology and Information Systems, aiming to raise students’ digital awareness and promote the safe and responsible use of modern technology.

The seminar was held under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of the University, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Bayoumi, Supervisor of the Student Welfare Sector. It was hosted by Prof. Dr. Yasser Ahmed Hamed, Dean of the Faculty of Management Technology and Information Systems, and attended by Prof. Dr. Ayman Mohasseb, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, who moderated the seminar.

The event featured two insightful lectures. The first, “Cybersecurity and Information Security,” was delivered by Dr. Lamia Manshawi, who highlighted the importance of protecting data and addressing cyber threats. The second lecture, “The Dark Web, Gambling, and Online Deviance,” was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Vivi Farouk, discussing the risks of unsafe internet use and the impact of harmful online practices on youth and society.

Students from the Faculties of Commerce, Arts, Law, Science, and Management Technology and Information Systems actively participated, reflecting their strong interest in cybersecurity and safe technology practices.
