Port Said University Leads by Example in Energy Conservation and Sustainability

Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of Port Said University, affirmed that the university community’s collaborative spirit stands as a successful model for energy conservation, in alignment with the directives of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and the Supreme Council of Universities, headed by Dr. Abdel Aziz Qansouh.

During a comprehensive meeting attended by Dr. Amal Khalil, Mrs Samia El-Mosailhy, and Dr. Mohamed Rizk, the University President praised the administrative staff for their strong engagement in energy-saving initiatives, highlighting their positive impact beyond campus into the wider community.

The university continues to implement key measures, including:

– Replacing traditional lighting with energy-efficient LED bulbs

– Switching off lights and electrical devices in unused areas

– Maximizing the use of natural daylight

– Disconnecting power after official working hours

Prof. Dr. Saleh also emphasized the importance of fostering a culture of responsible energy use among staff and students, as part of the university’s ongoing commitment to supporting national sustainability goals.

In university dormitories, directives were issued to rationalize the use of water heaters and regulate vehicle movement, limiting it to essential needs to reduce fuel consumption.
