Port Said University Advances Energy Conservation Efforts with Community-Focused Initiative

Port Said University has stepped up its efforts to promote energy conservation by launching a comprehensive awareness-driven program that extends beyond campus boundaries, in line with the state’s sustainability agenda and the directives of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of the University, affirmed that energy efficiency is a top institutional priority. He highlighted that the university is adopting a holistic approach that goes beyond regulatory measures, combining practical implementation with sustained community engagement to encourage responsible energy use.

The initiative includes a series of awareness seminars and interactive sessions across faculties and administrative sectors, alongside targeted campaigns for students and staff. These efforts also reach out to the surrounding community, aiming to promote positive behavioral change in electricity consumption.

The program further provides practical guidance on minimizing unnecessary electricity use, optimizing air conditioning operations, and encouraging the adoption of energy-efficient lighting solutions—all while maintaining the quality of the educational process.

University leadership also emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring and follow-up to ensure the effectiveness of these initiatives and to embed a culture of energy conservation as a shared responsibility among all members of the university community.

These awareness efforts are being implemented in parallel with a set of practical on-campus measures, reflecting an integrated approach that positions Port Said University as a model for sustainability and energy awareness, while supporting broader national economic goals.
