Supreme Council of Universities at Cairo University

Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of Port Said University, participated in the Supreme Council of Universities meeting at Cairo University, chaired by Prof. Dr. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Council, and other members in attendance.

The Council congratulated the new Minister and thanked Prof. Dr. Ayman Ashour, former Minister, for his contributions to higher education. Newly appointed university presidents were also recognized: Dr. Yahya Eid (Kafr El-Sheikh University), Dr. Ayman Abdel-Magid (Arish University), Dr. Nasser Abdel-Bari (Sadat City University), and Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel-Hakim (Acting President of Alexandria University). Outgoing presidents—Dr. Hassan El-Demerdash, Dr. Ismail Ibrahim, and Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim Azab—were thanked for their distinguished service.

The Minister highlighted key directives for university development, including upgrading university hospitals, accelerating digital transformation, enhancing faculty development centers, aligning research with regional challenges, and promoting innovation and the knowledge economy, with support from the Egyptian Knowledge Bank.

The Council witnessed the signing of memoranda of understanding between Al-Azhar University and Damanhour and Suez Universities, along with a cooperation protocol between the Faculty of African Graduate Studies at Cairo University and the Institute of African Research at Aswan University, aimed at strengthening academic collaboration and exchanging expertise.

The Minister emphasized collaboration to tackle educational and research challenges, link research to national projects, and enhance the role of university hospitals in providing high-quality services to citizens.
