
Port Said University Council held its 218th regular meeting on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, chaired by Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of the University. The meeting opened with an exchange of greetings on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
During the session, the Council extended its sincere congratulations to Prof. Dr. Abdel Aziz Qansouh on his appointment as Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, affirming the university’s full support for the Ministry’s efforts to advance the higher education and scientific research system. The Council also congratulated Major General Ibrahim Ahmed Abu Limon on assuming his duties as Governor of Port Said, stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation between the university and the governorate in support of comprehensive development plans. In addition, the Council commended the efforts of the former governor, Major General Moheb Habashi, and praised the constructive cooperation achieved during his tenure.
The University President reviewed the most notable achievements and activities of the past month, highlighting the university’s positive participation in the Egyptian–French Scientific and Academic Cooperation Day held in Paris, which opened new prospects for international collaboration and promising partnerships. He also referred to his recent meeting with the Governor of Port Said, noting the shared vision and agreement to work jointly to support the higher education and scientific research system in the governorate.
The Council noted the steady increase in the number of international students enrolled in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, reflecting the university’s growing academic reputation and the quality of its educational and training services. The University President congratulated the Faculty of Arts on the success of its first international conference, commended the efforts of the International Relations Team, and highlighted the successful visit to Suez Canal Container Terminal Company to activate a cooperation protocol providing distinguished training opportunities for students.
The Council emphasized the importance of close monitoring of examinations and control procedures to ensure the highest standards of quality and discipline. It approved the awarding of master’s degrees to 28 researchers and doctoral degrees to 11 researchers, then, the Council proceeded to discuss the agenda of the session.
