PSU President at the Supreme Council of Universities

Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of Port Said University, participated on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in the regular meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, held in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with the attendance of Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Council, and members of the Council.

At the start of the meeting, Dr. Ashour extended his sincere congratulations to all members of the academic community—including faculty staff, administrative staff, and students—on the beginning of the 2025/2026 academic year, wishing everyone success and a fruitful year ahead.

He also congratulated Egyptian scientists from universities, research centers, and institutes who were included in Stanford University’s list of the world’s top 2% of scientists for 2025. The list recognized 1,106 Egyptian researchers among the top 2% of highly cited scientists for “excellence in production” in 2024, and 579 researchers for their overall scientific contributions.

Dr. Ashour further praised Egypt’s progress in the 2025 Global Innovation Index and emphasized the importance of universities cooperating in initiatives, including conducting comprehensive assessments to ensure that all university buildings are accessible for people with disabilities.

The Minister also underscored the need for universities to implement diverse student activity plans and support talented students throughout the new academic year.

The Council concluded by reviewing a report on the Ministry’s most prominent activities during September.
