
As part of Port Said University’s strategic plan to engage with leading global universities and strengthen its academic and research standing on the international stage, Professor Sherif Youssef Saleh, President of Port Said University, continued his important visit to Ghent University in Belgium. This visit is part of the university’s efforts to build international academic and research partnerships that enhance its global ranking and open wide horizons for faculty members, researchers, and students to participate in pioneering scientific projects and academic and cultural exchange programs with renowned institutions.
The President of Port Said University began today’s engagements with a visit to the Science Park of Ghent University in Ostend, located on the North Sea coast. The visit was made at the official invitation of the Belgian side and under the full auspices of the President of Ghent University, who emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between the two universities in the fields of Naval Architecture, Aquaculture Engineering, and Marine Research.
The visit was organized by Dr Annelies Verdoolaege, Director of International Relations at Ghent University, in the presence of Prof. Ahmed Hassan Anwar, Advisor to the President of Port Said University for International Relations. They were received by Prof. Evert Lataire, Director of Marina Technology, and Dr Maximilian Streicher, who delivered a detailed presentation on the latest developments in the field of Naval Architecture and Aquaculture Engineering. This was followed by a tour of Ghent University’s state-of-the-art Naval Architecture Laboratory, which cost approximately €30 million and is considered one of the world’s leading specialized facilities in this domain.
During the meeting, Prof. Sherif Saleh delivered a comprehensive presentation on Port Said University’s capabilities and its exceptional expertise in marine research and naval architecture. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to collaborate with the Science Park in Ostend to promote the exchange of academic, research, and student experiences between the two sides.
For his part, the President of Port Said University expressed his deep appreciation for the gracious invitation to visit the Naval Architecture Laboratory in Ostend. He emphasized that the convergence of visions between Port Said University and Ghent University will represent a significant milestone in the university’s international cooperation journey and will contribute to the launch of pioneering scientific projects with a positive impact on the academic and research communities in Egypt and Belgium.
